How to Connect Your Wallet and Start Trading on dYdX Chain
Getting ready to trade on the dYdX Chain is really quick, the only requirement is a web3 wallet, here you can find the specifically supported wallets. Even if you don’t have a wallet ready that you can use you can create one with the available social login option (powered by privy.io).
Follow these three steps to set up your account to trade on dYdX Chain using dydx.trade:
Connect Your Wallet
Link Your Wallet
Deposit Funds
Step 1: Connect Your Wallet
Click “Connect Wallet” at the top right corner of the screen.
You will see a list of supported wallets. Pick the one you want to use.
Step 2: Link Your Wallet
This step is slightly different for these three possible scenarios:
Connecting with an EVM or SVM wallet
Connecting with a Cosmos native wallet
Using the “Email or social” option available
Option A: Onboarding with an EVM or SVM Wallet:
If it is your first time connecting, a “Sign Message” pop-up will appear. You will need to sign two requests:
Generate your dYdX Chain wallet: Will create a dYdX Chain wallet based on your wallets private key.
Verify wallet compatibility: Confirms your wallet is compatible and that you can use dydx.trade.
Option B: Onboarding with a Cosmos native wallet:
If it is your first time connecting, you will need to sign a message with your wallet which will verify your ownership of the wallet you wish to connect.
Option C: Onboarding via privy.io using Email or Social verification
When opting for this option in the previous step you’ll be taken through the privy.io onboarding steps:
Choose the preferred authentication method:
This will create a fully operational dYdX Chain wallet with a 24 word seed phrase. Learn more about seed phrases here.
After the respective authorization request has been approved either via the selected app social application or via email confirmation code you’ll be prompted to:
Setup two factor authentication for your account
This is strictly necessary for the security of your account, in addition you’ll be prompted to authenticate for any transactions you wish to send with the dYdX Wallet you just created.
Step 3: Deposit Funds
There are two main ways to deposit funds to your dYdX Chain account:
Deposits from EVM or SVM Chains via the deposit flow - powered by skip.
Deposits via Coinbase or direct deposits (manual deposits) to the dYdX Chain or Noble address
The availability of the above mentioned options varies depending on the type of wallet you used to create your dYdX Chain address or have connected to dydx.trade.
Either way you can get started with the deposit flow by clicking “Deposit” at the top right of the trading panel:
If connected with a self custody wallet you’ll be able to select the asset from a range of source chains (the available source chains depend on the wallet you used to connect to the frontend e.g. only Solana USDC for an SVM wallet).
If you connected via social login, only the Coinbase deposit or direct deposit is available. If that is you, skip ahead to Coinbase or Direct Deposits.
When depositing from EVM, SVM or Cosmos via the pop up shown above, you need to:
Enter the amount
Select Instant or Default (only for EVM and SVM source chains)
Click deposit funds and confirm in the source wallet
Coinbase or Direct Deposits
With the social login option only Coinbase deposits or direct deposits to the displayed Noble address are supported.
The option to deposit via Coinbase or directly to the Noble address associated with your dYdX Chain address ( it was also derived from the same seed phrase), is available to all users but the only option if you signed up with the social login option (privy.io).
Either via Coinbase or directly you can send USDC on the Noble network to the specified address that is shown in the screenshot above.
After the funds have been sent to the Noble address it should only take about 30 seconds for them to appear in your dYdX Chain wallet and you’ll be ready to trade!
