As per the Terms of Use, the frontends operated by dYdX Operations Services Ltd. (DOS) are not available to users in certain restricted jurisdictions, including but not limited to:

• United States

• Canada

• United Kingdom

• Sanctioned countries (e.g., Iran, North Korea)

If you attempt to access the frontends (e.g., dydx.trade) from one of these locations, your connected wallet may be flagged and subject to compliance enforcement steps.

What is Close-Only Mode?

Close-only mode is a restricted frontend state where a user is only able to:

• Cancel existing orders

• Reduce or fully close open positions (reduce-only)

• Withdraw funds from the chain

This state is applied when a user violates geolocation-related Terms of Use on the frontend. Users cannot deposit, transfer, or open new positions in this mode.

How can I tell if I'm in close-only mode?

When connecting from a restricted location, a notification will be shown on the frontend informing you of your compliance status and the timeline to off-board your positions and funds.

• All new orders will default to reduce-only

• Deposits and transfers will be disabled

• A red warning banner and compliance alert will appear

• If no date is visible in the alert, it is advised to close positions and withdraw funds immediately

What Happens After Close-Only Mode?

If your wallet remains in Close-Only mode for 7 consecutive days, it will automatically transition to Blocked status. At this stage:

• You will no longer be able to access your subaccounts or view trading history

• Trading or withdrawing funds via the frontend will no longer be possible

• Only your Secret Recovery Phrase (SRP) can still be exported

⚠️ Ensure you’ve exported all trade data, closed positions, and withdrawn funds before the 7-day window ends.

FAQ

How is my location detected?

Your IP address is checked on each page load and periodically while browsing.

Can I access dYdX from a restricted region?

No. Users in restricted regions will be unable to access the full functionality of the frontend. Some features may appear briefly accessible but will be locked after compliance enforcement triggers.

Can BLOCKED accounts be reactivated?

In rare and exceptional cases, a one-time manual process may be available. Contact support if you believe this applies to your case.

Does the geolocation check apply to the mobile apps, too?

Yes.
